The mission statement of the Ponoka Agricultural Society (PAS) is “to promote, support and encourage agricultural opportunities in our urban and rural community”. PAS has been part of the Ponoka community for over 100 years and currently has 100 – 150 members and volunteers. Although it has changed over the years, as has the agricultural industry, the Society has remained active in the community.
The Ponoka Agricultural Society publishes a Newsletter two times each year, which is delivered to almost every home and business within the Town & County of Ponoka. They annually host a county fair, a bullarama and a volunteer appreciation evening. A scholarship is presented annually to two students who are pursuing post-graduate education in a field directly related to agriculture. PAS has supported many worthwhile community programs in the past, including 4-H, Youth Leadership camps, Battle River High School Rodeo, Ponoka Youth Centre, capital projects for both Ponoka Stampede Association & Ponoka Ag Event Centre Society, and Ponoka Volunteer Week. Ponoka Ag Society looks forward to contributing to our community for many years to come.

The Ponoka Stampede & Exhibition Association (PSEA) maintains an exemplary performance record and is a recognized leader in a community that attracts attention across North America. The mission statement of the PSEA is ‘to preserve our western heritage and values by providing and facilitating recreation and education for our Alberta youth’. PSEA proudly hosts the Ponoka Stampede - Canada’s largest 7-day professional rodeo, which is more than a major annual tourism attraction. It is a continuing statement of Ponoka’s western heritage. Year after year thousands of loyal fans from across North America come to Ponoka during the July 1st weekend to enjoy some of the best rodeo action and entertainment in Canada. 2008 gate attendance surpassed 70,000. The Ponoka Stampede began in 1936 as a single day event and has grown to become a 7-day show featuring chuckwagon races, entertainment gardens, dances, concerts, a parade, art show, a midway, and of course, all of the traditional exciting rodeo events. Ponoka draws the top cowboys in the world and is famous for its top rodeo stock. The staging of the Ponoka Stampede is a total community effort involving countless hours of volunteer time. Ponoka residents and especially its 500 volunteers are justifiably proud of the high quality, fast paced, professional show.
PSEA proudly boasts grandstands that seat 7,000 people, complimented by impressive corporate boxes and infield seating. Additional facilities include a large campground complete with services, barns, pens, and a first class racetrack. The entire facility is located on 50 acres of land located in the Town of Ponoka.
